Is it safe to integrate Chromium Browser with my daily use Google account?

I have been using Chrome and its Sign-In-Once-And-Forget feature for a long time to sync my history, passwords etc across devices.

Now that I have switched to Ubuntu for my mainframe, I was considering Chromium as an alteative (just as a token of change).

So if I setup my Chromium with my Google account, will the data thats being synced be safe or will it also be sent to third parties?

Can I use Chromium ?
