Virtualbox keyboard and mouse stopped working after installing guest additions

I've tried to install kali linux on a virtual machine and it was working fine but I wanted guest additions to have a bidirectional clipboard. After following various directions, first trying to install it through apt-get, and not having success to then trying from a virtual cd which seemed available, I now can't seem to get into my system because when it loads I caot access the keyboard nor mouse, how can I fix this?
