btrfs snapshot chain - performance impact or other disadvantages?

Supposing I have a chain of subsequent snapshots like this:

/btrfs/snapshots/sn0
/btrfs/snapshots/sn1-snapshot_of_sn0
/btrfs/snapshots/sn2-snapshot_of_sn1
/btrfs/snapshots/sn3-snapshot_of_sn2
/btrfs/snapshots/sn4-snapshot_of_sn3

All at the same level in directory tree but joined in parent-child-granchild chain.

Is there any performance impact or any other shortcoming if I start using sn4 as default for mounting? Typical use case would be to make new snapshot of '/' just before system update, switch to it, update, make it default and use normally until next update.
