hardware virtualization on Intel i7-4790K/Asus maximus vii ranger/Win10 Pro

After a power failure my system seems to have lost its virtualization capabilities.

CPU is an i7-4790K (http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz)

Virtualization is enabled in BIOS but when Windows is ruing the Intel Processor Identification Utility claims it is not. This problem also manifests itself with VirtualBox no longer able to run my 64Bit Linux virtual machines.

Any thoughts on how to resolve welcomed!
