My hard drive (Seagate) has been working perfectly up until this past Friday, when I upgraded to the latest LTS version of Ubuntu (16.04 LTS), when I did this I was having trouble watching movies off of my hard drive, and figured it was a bug with VLC for the new version of Ubuntu, so reverted to the old version, but, my hard drive continued with these errors, and I had only figured out it was the hard drive after the revert.

I noticed that whenever I access the hard drive, every so often it makes a brief beeping noise and it freezes up for a few seconds. I went over to my Windows partition and ran chkdsk C: /F from the startup options menu, this did not work, and I am now ruing chkdsk C: /R /F /V as found online, which is now at stage 4, however it is taking so long, that I thought I should post on here to have a back up plan if this fails, the ETA states 28 hours, but I doubt that this is the case.

NOTE: The hard drive was recently formatted, so that I could access it in both my Windows and Ubuntu partitions (The hard drive is a separate drive to my drive with my OS partitions on it)

NOTE 2: I've backed everything on it up on my other hard drive, just in case it fails.
