Delete clipped image in Inkscape

I'm doing some work in Inkscape which involves lots of images being heavily clipped.

How can I remove the parts of the images that I've clipped from a file? In these cases, I don't need to release the clip again.

The images are upwards of 1mb bit, where I'm using about 1/10th of the image. It's becoming unmanageably big very quickly.
