How do I make the Linux Mint Ciamon desktop more rigid?

I am ruing Linux Mint Ciamon, and my desktop is currently very loose and hard to manage. Windows, however, has a desktop with a very rigid structure, with the icons in preset imaginary "boxes" on the desktop. The text on the also never overlap in Windows, which in Mint is aoyingly prone to. Is there a tool to manage my desktop in the way that Windows does?
