How do I start and stop Powerpoint video with the spacebar and advance slides with the arrows?

I am putting together a Powerpoint 2013 slideshow for work that contains videos. My boss would like to be able to start and stop the videos in the slideshow using the spacebar, but advance the slides which the videos are on using the arrows. He is a mac user and says that this is how it has always worked on Keynote. I tried using an animation to start the video with the spacebar, but I can't figure out a way to program it to start and stop as many time as he wants to the click the spacebar at various points in the videos, but press the arrows to move to the next slide at anytime.

Is there a way to do this? On powerpoint or keynote? I researched keynote and couldn't find an answer to this problem for that program either.

Thanks!
