We have a laboratory instrument ruing Windows Embedded Standard (not sure if it should have been tagged windows-embedded-7 or windows-embedded-2009 since the Windows edition is described only as Windows Embedded Standard, Copyright 2010, SP 1).

At some point we had it mounting a share on our network as F:, using a Windows service account.

Subsequently, we had to relocate this share to another location (now hosted by SMB under Linux), but still want to mount the share as F:.

I was able to discoect the existing mount and remount the new share as F:. However, after reboot, the old share location is mounted, not the new one. This is despite us specifying that the network drive should be recoected.

It seems clear that somewhere there is a setting, configuration option, or other that is mounting the old share, and that possibly this option contains the service account credentials. How do I go about tracking down where this setting is located ?

I've looked through the Local Group Policy Editor for any likely candidates, but don't see anything obvious. I've also looked through the registry but don't see anything obvious there, but it's quite possible I missed something.

I've considered changing the credentials on the Windows service account to induce a failure, hopefully generating some useful diagnostic output. Would such output be captured in a log file ?

Any advice as to how I might begin trying to diagnose this would be greatly appreciated.
