HP Pavillion dv6-6135dx refurbished motherboard switchable graphics not recognized

I replaced the motherboard with a factory refurbished one I found online. I used the old cpu because it didn't come with one, but the graphic chip is built in. I checked the serial numbers and they matched, but the only thing recognized is the integrated graphics. Neither Windows nor the AMD driver utility seem to be capable of installing drivers to even make the integrated graphics work (Ubuntu did but I actually need Windows).

I'm regretting buying a refurbished one instead of a used one. The only thing that makes any sense to me is if the original recovery media (which I don't have) is necessary for the graphics to be recognized. I'm trying to install a legit win8 and not getting anywhere with fixing the graphics issue.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
