Word/Excel document update within folder

I have a word doc that I've inserted graphs from various excel spreadsheets. The graphs in the word doc will auto update when they are updated in excel. My question is...How do I isolate the doc and spreadsheets to a specific file?

Example: If I move the current file they are all stored in, they still link to my desktop, I want to be able to be able to email that folder to someone without it still being tied to my desktop. So no matter where the actual folder is, the documents will be linked to each other withing that folder.
