802.11n wireless communication

i had recently this wireless adapter http://img2.everychina.com/img/a3/ff/876febc593d39d08f0fd26384c18-600x600c0-d9c0/mid_tablet_accessories_usb_802_11n_150mbp_mini_wireless_lan_adapter.jpg and i could of used it for local inteet, the question is if i can use this for local communication ( i mean creat a server i can communicate through it with this adapter, without using inteet ) and if there's anyway i can use it with the arduino
