I deleted a directory at some time that has a bunch of links elsewhere pointing to its contents. I wanted to use a unix foreach to delete the now dead links from the directory without dinging other files/linkdump, but when I do a foreach cat thelist foreach breaks all the lines on spaces, which are allowed in this case in file names. Does anyone know a way to take the whole line intact as the file name into the foreach body?
Here's the situation...
filename has spaces -> down/this/path/filename has spaces
Which produces this behavior: foreach ... filename not found has not found spaces not found
I've tried all sorts of "" and {} combos, but none seem to supercede the foreach behavior. thanks. Harley
