Replacing a MSATA SSD

I have a Lenovo U410 laptop with a faulty MSATA SSD. I want to replace this drive but I am not sure if there are any restrictions to it as you have with conventional SSD's (e.g. bus speed).

What specs do I need to pay attention to if I am shopping for a new MSATA SSD? Are there capacity limits set by the logic board for example?
