How can choice of Style be prevented from disrupting the Numbering?

Per the screenshot above, I am using Word 2016 and 2 Styles: Style 1 for the Black Times New Roman, and Style 2 for Red Arial.

I wish to apply Style 2 to the letter F, but F should have been numbered '5' instead of '2'. I right-clicked and clicked on 'Continue Numbering', but '2' did not change.

So how can I command Word not to preclude and stop choice of Style from disrupting the numbering?
