I downloaded devstack on a newly built 8 core 32Gb RAM z97 board with a 4Ghz i7-4790K Haswell refresh chip and SATA3 SSD. I followed the instructions and have devstack up on centos 7 1511 minimal.
I hit Horizon, login as admin, Compute > Access & Security > API Access > download rc version 2.
I created admin-openrc.sh in ~stack/devstack, went to the dir and sourced the file. I used the password devstack spat out when I ran ./stack.sh. OK.
I run
$ nova service-list

So the first question is, is this output correct? There appears to be most of the nova compute service in an inteal zone. Seems fair.
I try and start an instance from the default cirros-0.3.4-x86_64-uec image. It succeeds, but then failed during the spawning. The error is:
Error: Failed to perform requested operation on instance "ert", the instance has an error status: Please try again later [Error: Unknown].
Also, I notice that there are no OpenStack logs in /var/log. RabbitMQ, MariaDB, GlusterFS but no OpenStack logs.
Is nova ruing? Appears to be:

So given this is a default fresh install, I'm stumped as to why this doesn't work. I followed the exact same procedure on a centos 7 1511 VM build on parallels and it works no problem. But I want to grow a dev lab at home across several boxes I've bought specially, so this is a right pain. Anyone seem these circumstances before?
