I am doing chkdsk C: /R but... That will take forever so I want to stop it and just do chkdsk v: /F instead. Ctrl+C doesn't work, you can't open Tasklist/manager. When you search on Google for ways to optimize computer speed, in almost all lists you see something like this - 3) Remove uecessary files from your disk to make your computer run faster. This 'advice' is literally everywhere. Everyone from online article and my father believe that full disk = slow speed. I don't understand how -- the disk is only used for storing long-term and temporary files, the RAM and CPU are what determine computing speed! In a bash shell, you can edit your environment variables, run source ./.bashrc and refresh the values of environment variables in an already open shell. Does Windows have a similar command that you can run to do this from the command prompt? (for instance I might change my system %PATH% variable in the properties of Computer, and then want my existing cmd.exe window to refresh the environment variables from there. I am worried that, in general, there is another computer where I have not logged out of my gmail or Dropbox. I make it a habit to log out of my email regularly, but I could always have forgotten somewhere. Thus, someone could easily download important files on my google drive and or Dropbox, if I didn't log out. I usually have one or two hosts (also Macs) in my finder side bar "Shared" section and often want to navigate to a folder in one of those hosts. I have the path bar on the bottom of the finder window tued on, but I can't tell from the path bar which host I'm looking at. So if I go to (server1) MyUserHomeDirectory/Documents , the path bar shows MyUserHomeDirectory > Documents . If I do the same but for server2, I'll see the exact same path in the path bar. I can't tell which remote host's path the path bar is referring to. Is there a way to have the path bar show the host? Maybe get the hosts' shared name in the sidebar to light up or something? There was a user at work whom was conceed that someone had broken into his/her computer because windows were opened on her desktop upon her arrival. However; what really happened was that windows updates had been applied to his/her machine, and he/she apparently didn't log out before hand (even though he/she thought they did). I've purchased an AMD A10 7850K with a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3HP and 8GB 2400MHz Corsair RAM for my computer. The problem is that the AMD A10 7850K doesn't support RAM at 2400 MHz, so I'm trying to underclock it to 2133 MHz, which is supported. At 2400 MHz, the computer frequently gives BSOD errors, so underclocking is a must. The UEFI, however, only allows me to set the frequency to 1333 MHz, which is way too slow for my computer to function properly, or 2400 MHz by selecting the XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile), which is too fast. How do you make a SSD bootable after cloning it from a working Windows 7 HDD? Every time I reboot the Samsung NP-RV510 laptop with only the cloned SSD, I get the same error message for the past two days: Operating System Not Found! The reason I believe the SSD is not bootable, other than the error mentioned above, is because diskpart says it isn't. When I detail the disk, it says Boot Drive = No, but when I checked the original HDD earlier to compare, it said its Boot Drive = Yes. So based on that, my new SSD that was cloned from the HDD, should say the same thing, but it does not and I don't know how to force it to say "Yes". I've been starting to use the CLI to MakeMKV (makemkvcon) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to rip more than one specific title from a DVD at a time without rescaing. Say I want to rip titles 0, 2 and 7 then I would expect a command something like this would be available makemkvcon64 mkv disc:0 0,2,7 "pathtooutputdir" Otherwise, if you just loop over each title separately then makemkvcon does a full disc rescan which is a big waste of time. The usage.txt file from the MakeMKV site shows how to rip a single title, and there is also an option to rip all titles but nothing about two or more specific titles.
