I have Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 3. I am trying to use Visual Studio Code. Unfortunately, there seems to be no combination whatsoever where I can run my program. Any time I hit F5 or ctrl f5 or shift f5, the windows 10 search bar from the OS pops up. I have a room full of machines that I have been upgrading from home to pro (Windows 10). All machines that are NOT aiversary update 1607 can be joined to a domain with no issues. All that are the aiversary update will allow me to join to the domain and it restarts and asks for the useame and password. Put in my credentials and it provides a generic "caot log you in" error message. I've also noticed lusrmgr.msc is missing (Local users and groups) in all of these 1607 upgrades. The earlier build -- no issues and lusrmgr is available. It's my understanding pro should be able to be joined to a domain. Is this not the case? Thanks ahead of time! :) Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I can see a lot of events 10000 and 10001 in the Application Logs of the Event Viewer. They relate to RestartManager and if looked closely upon I can see a lot of "StartingSession" and "EndingSession" entries. But no entries to indicate as to why does it keep initiating and closing sessions. Any way to find this out? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I have an exteal hard disk, and for some reason, it is reporting wrong free space. In Windows Explorer, it is showing the used space is 378 GB. I tried ruing chkdsk H: /f /r, it seems to report the same usage as Windows Explorer, and it says that there is no problem. But when I tried selecting all the files inside this drive, it is showing much lesser usage. I've already set the setting to show all hidden files and folders, also show the protected OS files, but it still caot find about those missing files. And the difference is huge (282 GB). I've already cleaned the Recycle bin as well. What I am missing here and how do I identify those missing spaces? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I've installed Windows 7 32-bit(Ultimate SP1) & Windows 10 64-bit(Pro RTM) in the same laptop but in different partitions. But when I run dxdiag.exe(Run as admin. for sure) in both, Windows 7 retus Dx11, while Windows 10 retus Dx10. It's good to say my hardware supports Dx11. Why Windows 10 asks user to update their computer also if they are under domain with GPO set to automatically update? This did not happen with Win 7 and I did not change any GPO about updates....

I have a brand new computer with an SSD and an HDD both plugged in with SATA. Windows is installed on the SSD (C:) and the HDD (E:) is practically empty. I want the default windows libraries (i.e Downloads, Documents, Pictures etc.) to all be located on the HDD in order to save space on the SSD. I moved the downloads folder there using the properties menu (in the Location tab), but I guess I entered the Documents Folder location wrong and now it thinks the whole disk is that folder, and I can't restore it to default - I get an "invalid path" error. This is a difficult issue to Google. I recently set up a Storage Space (3x 4TB) in Windows 10 and it worked as expected. No parity (Simple) as it’s only for backups. I then added another independent drive (1x 4TB) to the PC and in the process of trying to get Windows to recognise it I probably booted up with only 2/3 of my pool drives coected. Even with all three now coected; I now have no visible pool shown in Storage Spaces. This is fine - I'm happy to start again as it's only for backups - but the issue is Windows won't recognise any of the three drives (the new, non-pool drive is recognised) so I can’t format them and start again. I can see all three drives in the BIOS, but not in Window...

I wanted to set automatic rules for Quiet hours features in Windows 10. I want quiet hours to automatically activate during specific time. In Windows 10 Mobile I have done the same by going to Cortana->Notebook->Quiet Hours. However I caot do the same on Windows 10 PC. There is no quiet hour page in Cortana's notebook on PC. That "legacy console" option should only be available on a shortcut to cmd.exe, not on cmd.exe itself. So hopefully something is wrong with your shortcut and not with the actual cmd.exe. Try browsing to c:windowssystem32 (or whatever your system dir is), then ruing cmd.exe directly from there. Alteatively, press WIN+R and run c:windowssystem32cmd.exe directly. If that works like normal, then just delete the existing shortcut that's giving you the problems and create a new shortcut, that should fix it. I'm playing around with my fresh Windows 2012 R2 VM and am following this guide to convert it to a 'workstation'. I have network discovery on and all the other advanced sharing settings necessary on my server-tued-workstation. I have a Win 8 VM that is hosting a shared folder and my win 10 machine that's hosting a shared folder. The majority of the time, I'm able to access the shared resources. The problem I've run into is that if I restart my Win2012 VM, my mapped coections break. I run into "The useame or password is incorrect" error. I have a pair of earbuds with a microphone that I would like to record with instead of the terrible inbuilt one. Unfortunately, when I plug it in it still uses the inbuilt one. The icon next to the jack indicates that it is speaker and microphone, and the end of my audio jack does have four rings. The microphone works fine on my Android phone, so I know it isn't the earbuds' fault. I remember when I first plugged them, there was a dialogue menu that asked what I wanted to coect it as, and I selected sound and tried to select microphone, but it only let me use one so I selected sound and told it not to ask again.
