Every once in a while I run a certain program (MATLAB) and it takes up too much memory. At this stage the physical mem is at ~100% and the computer barely works. I then terminate MATLAB and I can see the memory is freed on the task manager (image). However, it takes about 5-10 minutes until I have full control over my computer back. In these 10 minutes the computer gradually becomes usable, open programs get 'unfreezed', etc. I guess that if MATLAB consumed all the memory then some other program's data was saved in the swap mem, but is it okay for this process of 'recovery' to take such a long time? I hope this is the right place to ask this. My University lets students download a preconfigured executable of OpenVPN, where the settings are already branded in. Once you installed it, you just enter your credentials and you are coected. However, I noticed that it doesn't work anymore after the system is has been installed on is rebooted. If I install it, I get a successful coection with the VPN and can use it. If I restart my Laptop, it does not work anymore, but the Icons in the Tray still show a green screen. If I then uninstall it and reinstall it, without rebooting, it works again. The only difference in the log window when it's coecting, I notice when it does not work, one of the line...

I'm starting working with ROS2 (currently in alpha7 state). For this I build up a small network with an Raspberry Pi (Raspbian Jessie) coected to an router via LAN and an host PC (Ubuntu Gnome 16.04) coected to the same router via WLAN. Inside the host are some virtual machines (using VirtualBox) installed with Debian Jessie and coected via a bridged network (wlp4s0). I can also use ping, ssh and scp between all my machines (Rasp, Host, VMs). I found that the Rasp doesn't coect to the VM's but the VM's are in contact to each other. So I can send messages between the VM's. But a talker-listener-coection between the Rasp and the VM's doesn't work. Can anyone give me some suggestions to find ou...

I've got 2 Windows installations which are identical, the same settings, the same programs. The only difference is that the Windows architecture is different, the one is 32bit and the other one is 64bit. I am making several websites on a single workstation, so I want to test them in more or less isolated environment. Having some Linux background, I decided to make a chroot for each of these web apps. To be able to launch my app handlers from inside the chroot, I wanted to forward the visibility of /usr/local/bin to the chrooted container, but I fail to see a direct equivalent of mount --bind. I'm playing around with my fresh Windows 2012 R2 VM and am following this guide to convert it to a 'workstation'. I have network discovery on and all the other advanced sharing settings necessary on my server-tued-workstation. I have a Win 8 VM that is hosting a shared folder and my win 10 machine that's hosting a shared folder. The majority of the time, I'm able to access the shared resources. The problem I've run into is that if I restart my Win2012 VM, my mapped coections break. I run into "The useame or password is incorrect" error. I had a desktop computer before and this fighting stick of mine was working pretty well. Before I got it to work, it was not recognized by the operating system (Windows 10). Now, I bought a new laptop and the controller is perfectly recognized but does not work at all. I have tried advices from steam forum but these advices are only for those who could not get their controllers to be recognized. What I literally want to do is to make my controller recognized as a game controller. But it is recognized as an usb device. When I try to change the driver, I have two options, and both of them does not work for me. What shall I do to make my computer recognize my fighting stick as a game controller...
