Every once in a while I run a certain program (MATLAB) and it takes up too much memory. At this stage the physical mem is at ~100% and the computer barely works. I then terminate MATLAB and I can see the memory is freed on the task manager (image). However, it takes about 5-10 minutes until I have full control over my computer back. In these 10 minutes the computer gradually becomes usable, open programs get 'unfreezed', etc. I guess that if MATLAB consumed all the memory then some other program's data was saved in the swap mem, but is it okay for this process of 'recovery' to take such a long time? I am building a new desktop computer. I will be using 128GB of RAM. I know that is a lot, I am not interested in explaining why I need it. My question is how I should plan this out. I have 8 ports for RAM, Should I buy 8 16GB RAM sticks or one 128 GB stick. Other variances of 128 GB are also an option. I have read this post however I still have a question. I understand that saying 32 bit processor implies registers of size 32 bit long each of which can hold up to 2^32 data. My question goes little bit further. So during the execution cycle, how does 32bit register span into the main memory? I have column 1 and it has dates. I have column 2 and it has inventory sold. The dates are duplicated from several systems - which means for a given date there are at least 7-10 numbers for inventory sold. I need a small script to download some programs. The URL's never change but the files do. Like when you download malwarebytes. Example: "https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbam_current/" The address doesnt change but the file name downloaded does. Every script i see, requires that you specify a file name. I dont want to do that, I want the script to pull the filename from the sites header which would include the version name of that file in that filename. I cant seem to find any way of doing this. I'm starting working with ROS2 (currently in alpha7 state). For this I build up a small network with an Raspberry Pi (Raspbian Jessie) coected to an router via LAN and an host PC (Ubuntu Gnome 16.04) coected to the same router via WLAN. Inside the host are some virtual machines (using VirtualBox) installed with Debian Jessie and coected via a bridged network (wlp4s0). I can also use ping, ssh and scp between all my machines (Rasp, Host, VMs). I found that the Rasp doesn't coect to the VM's but the VM's are in contact to each other. So I can send messages between the VM's. But a talker-listener-coection between the Rasp and the VM's doesn't work. Can anyone give me some suggestions to find ou...

This happens to me quite a lot, and I'd like to know if there's a way to prevent it or a better way to fix it than restarting my computer.
