What does it mean if an enterprise is "entirely virtualized"?

If someone on the IT staff of an enterprise describes their company as "entirely virtualized", what exactly does that mean? (In reference to the workstations) Does it mean that instead of each PC in the company having its own copy of (for example) Windows 7 installed on the hard drive, there is some kind of central VM server shooting out hundreds of virtual Windows 7s to each PC? What does the "Always execute the script" check box in the "Configure Hook Scripts" dialog mean?

In the Hook Scripts section of the Settings of TortoiseSVN (version 1.9.2, on Windows 7 x64), there is a checkbox "Always execute the script" in the "Configure Hook Scripts" dialog: The same checkbox is also present in the Properties dialog for "Local hook scripts". What is the exact meaning of that?In what situations is a hook script not executed unless this checkbox is ticked? In the help documentation it is not mentioned at all, the snapshots do even not show that checkbox. The only thing I found out so far is:It does definitely not suppress the "Approve or reject client-side hook script" prompt. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

What files does Windows 10 "Reset this PC" keep?

Windows 10 includes an option to Reset this PC which can be accessed in Settings → Update and Security → Recovery. When you choose to reset, you're given some options: The "Keep my files" option says it "keeps your personal files", but which files does it actually keep? Personal files could mean files in my Windows user folder, or it could just mean the Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folders, or it could mean everything that's not Windows. Sometimes I need folders without spaces in the path, so I store (important) files directly in the C drive. Are these saved as "personal files"? Although I have backups, I'd prefer not to have to use them. For the purposes of Windows 10 reset, what ...

What is the servicing stack and how does it work?

In Windows, there's something called the servicing stack which seems to fulfill the role of a package manager. I don't understand it very well, only that it seems that Component-Based Servicing (CBS), Windows Installer, Windows Update, and WinSxS are part of the servicing stack or are otherwise involved in servicing. I've done lots of research and have not been able to find an easy-to-understand overview on servicing in Windows. Hence, I'm asking the following: What is servicing and what does the servicing stack do? How does the servicing stack work? What roles do CBS, Windows Installer, WinSxS, and Windows Update play? What utilities does Windows provide for interacting with the servicing s...

How does WhatsApp Web connect an Android user?

The only thing WhatsApp for Web does, is continuously query the WhatsApp on your phone and interact with it. You can type message using the website, but they are sent to your phone, and your phone then sends them to the other contact. So using WhatsApp for Web is basically the same as when you use it on your phone, except that its more convenient because you do not have to keep looking at your phone, and typing is a lot easier. That being said, WhatsApp uses the inteet to send and receive messages, not SMS text messages. How you have your phone coected to the inteet will determine how the WhatsApp messages are being sent. If your phone is coected to your local WiFi spot, and as such, you don...

What does HDR mean in Mac Photos?

It means the photo was shot wit High Dynamic Range. HDR mode is sort of a method to make photos have less contrasted exposure differences (at least how I understand it). For example, if there's a scene you want to shoot that has a really bright area (maybe the sun reflecting off a window) and also a dark area or two (an alleyway or shaded porch), a normal shot would expose for one of the extremes, depending on your choice. Exposing for the dark area would leave the light one washed out. Exposing the light area would leave the dark ones too dark to see. HDR does its best to expose for all light levels in the shot at the same time, so hopefully you will be able to see the things on the dark po...

How does Thunderbird "decide" what is junk?

When you receive emails, Thunderbird has a "junk classification" process that is used to determine what is junk and what isn't. You can "teach" it by identifying emails yourself, and Thunderbird will then use these suggestions in future junk sweeps. Now there are 2 stages to this: A little flame icon will appear next to an email, suggesting that it might be junk, yet it will stay in your inbox until you identify it as junk. It will review your emails and identify what is junk; and move it to the junk folder automatically. So what factors are considered when Thunderbird decides what is/what isn't/what might be junk? what does exactly happen when you plug a ethernet cable To a windows computer?

My question is, what does exactly happen when you plug a Etheet cable on a windows computer? To narrow down the Question: From that exact moment (plugging in the cable) to the TCP ip 3 way handshake I Would like to know layer by layer (TCP/IP) 1 and 2 or OSI 1, 2, 3, we suppose it’s from a computer (ruing windows OS 7) to a router coected via Etheet, with Ip addresses and subnets set properly, cable in good shape, Network card activated & its driver installed and operational I’m more interested in what happens on the computer Side for troubleshooting purposes, i was thinking when troubleshooting one has to know what Usually goes by Layer by layer , Sort of “the standard process” ,so when thi...
